New Year, New Chapter

Happy new year to you all! I hope the first few days have already given you a little more light in hopes for a better 2026. Big changes are underway for me: next week I’ll be moving to Minnesota… As someone who thrives on color coded calendars and five year plans, I have had a really hard time submitting to this reality because I kept questioning, am I giving up on myself and the life I envisioned? But after an unforgivingly heartless 2025, it was the only next step that had any ounce of logic. As I do best, I have processed my thoughts in a series of words and images. Deviating from my newsletter’s usual structure, I wanted to share them with you:

The shore at Lake Superior, 1995?

To DC and all my greatest loves within it: I am so sad to leave the life I’ve built alongside you. So much of this departure feels premature but I know we’ll continue growing with each other in new and novel ways. You have inspired and pushed me to be smarter, wittier, and more engaged and enraged–that is not something I will ever leave behind. Thank you for everything you have given to, and even taken from me. I am so grateful for it all.

While I’ll be working for the state of Minnesota–their tourism department of all places!–I have every intention of throwing myself into the arts community there. I can’t wait to share with you everything that awaits. Thank you for continuing to open and read this newsletter every month. For me, it has become one of the best things to come out of 2025.
